Fertilisers

At the end of this activity, students should be able to:
– discuss the structure of soil
– name the basic elements essential for plants and discuss their effect on plants
– give natural and artificial sources of these elements
– describe the processes for preparing basic artificial fertilisers containing nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium
– describe the effect of fertilisers on water basins or reservoirs, and ways of preventing the pollution of surface water with fertilisers.
